MEET JESSIE
Hello, I am Jessie McGruder, son of Julious and Laverne McGruder and a lifelong Arkansan. My parents taught me about God, the importance of education, and most of all the importance of family.
My drive to participate and serve in the activities that I am most passionate about began during my time at my Alma Mater, Barton High School. At Barton, I participated in multiple extracurricular activities: basketball, football, track, and student government. I was voted class president because even in high school I was a leader.
After graduation, I met the beautiful Kaiesha Brantley and married her shortly after. Together, we attended Arkansas State University and obtained bachelor's degrees. Following graduation, we began careers in public service and expanded our family. My wife and I have 6 exceptional children along with 4 bonus children. The McGruder family has called Crittenden County home for over 9 years. We attend New Zion Missionary Baptist Church in West Helena, Arkansas, under the leadership of my father, Pastor Julious McGruder. Spending time with my family and fighting for issues that affect my community are my missions. I take pleasure in cooking, cruising, family, basketball, and reading.
My family is no stranger to politics; my father served on the Barton School board, and my mother is currently a board member for the Phillips Community College of the University of Arkansas. Following in their footsteps, I currently serve as a Personnel Policy Committee representative in West Memphis School District, and a coach for the football, basketball, and track teams at Wonder Jr High School.
As your State Rep, I'll speak up for those who feel their voices are silent.
